When Are You Ready? There's no universal answer, but most instructors agree: if you've been training consistently for 6+ months, can spar safely at moderate intensity, and can control your sword under pressure, you're ready for your first tournament. You won't win. That's fine. You're there to learn what competitive fencing feels like.
