Blade Maintenance and When to Retire a Sword

A feder is a consumable. Here's how to know when yours has reached the end of its useful life.

Steel Has a Lifespan A training sword is not a decoration. It takes repeated impacts, bends, vibrates, and fatigues over months and years of use. A well-maintained feder from a good maker will last 2–5 years of regular training. A cheap one might last 6 months. But no blade lasts forever, and a fatigued blade is a dangerous blade.
